Chicken gyros

Ingredients:
500g of boneless and skinless chicken legs without excess fat
1 large onion cut in half and thinly sliced
¼ cup of olive oil
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons of garlic powder
1 teaspoon of dried oregano
½ teaspoon of salt plus more for seasoning
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper plus more for seasoning
6 warmed pita bread
Tzatziki sauce for serving
Indications:
- Place the chicken and onion in the slow cooker.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper. Pour the
mixture over the chicken and onion and toss to coat. - Cover and cook over low heat for 8 hours or until chicken is tender.
- Transfer the chicken to a cutting board.
- Cut the chicken with two forks, then return it to the slow cooker. Shake.
- Season with more salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve the chicken and onions with the pita and pass the Tzatziki sauce and chopped vegetables if desired.
